Tribewanted - Vorovoro - Live like a Fijian...

I genuinely wanted to experience Fiji and live like a Fijian, and a friend of mine Sarah reccomened me to check out TribeWanted. I soon found out that they used to have a reality show in the UK and loved the concept. "Vorovoro is a place and experience like no other in Fiji and it’s for everyone; young, old, groups, families, single travellers. The ability to live, work and play within a real Fijian community is simply an opportunity that should not be missed."
Arriving on Vorovoro with a tiny little boat, it was everything I had thought a sustainable community was going to be like. Solar electricity, waterfall shower, guitar as music and a lot a lot of the Fijian national drink Kava. Before arriving I got told that it was Fijian custom to bring Kava to prensent to the chief in a ceremony called Sevusevu', yes chief they still have island chiefs, and they rule and own the land. Drinking Kava is not without certain rules that you have to respect. Clap your hands once before you receive the coconut bowl of what looks like grumzy tea and it taste a little like it too... you need to drink everything in one go, and after you hand the bowl back you clap twice. Drinking Kava, playing guitar into the long hours of the night, dancing the traditional Fijian dance Meke  ,fire on the beach, chilling in the hammock, helping the local village with making traditional mats, teaching and playing sport at the local village school, its all the Vorovoro way...
If you want to experience the real Fijian life, Tribewanted is perfect!
