Miami with an 8 month old baby...

Ok first of all I have to say that going to Miami in summer time is HOT. Humid and hot. We are definitely coming back, but we are going back in winter. On the plus side of travelling to Florida in low season is that you can get some awesome deals at luxury hotels :)

So where did we stay in Miami with a baby:

First up we tested Miami, or more correctly South Beach. I think in my experience with a little baby its good to be able to walk to nearby places. If you stay to far north on Miami Beach you will spend a lot of time on the resort, well that is what happened to us. Which is great, don't get me wrong, but then you could just as well be on any resort anywhere in the world.

So since the first week was pretty much spent in Fontainebleu (and if you are spending a lot of time in the resort its great to be at a nice one ;) I wanted to see what the area around Lincoln Road and Ocean Drive was like. We found a place to blocks from the beach and one block from Lincoln road. And to be perfectly honest, it was so hot and sticky that we ended up spending most of our time in the air conditioned room. Littlebabyexplorer did not appreciate being dragged around shopping or dining in the heat... wonder why?;)

After about three days we've had enough of city life and decided it was time to test some of the neighbourhood of down town Miami. Coconut grove. Chilled area, and like my childhood friend suggested it was like Miamis equivalent to Grynerløkka in Oslo. We had a nice hotel close to everything. Mayfair.  And soon our new favourite restaurant only two blocks away. Jaguar. I normally don't go back to the same restaurant for both lunch AND dinner (unless its the only option) but we loved the food so much we actually did it two days in a row! Had our first Ceviche, its the south Americans answer to Sushi. Delicious! The area around Coconut Grove was not as busy and it felt cooler than Sourh Beach so Littlebabyexplorer was happy in her stroller again.

traveling with a baby has its many perks one of them is that I am almost always up to see the sunrise :)
