New York City - before the storm...

The difference could not be bigger. 3 months on secluded beaches in Brazil 20 hours later; a world metropolis NYC. Busy traffic, freezing cold wind, no sun to be seen and people rushing everywhere. It was all overwhelming! We hurried into our hotel room at Cassa hotel, and exhausted all three of us sank into the Egyptian cotton sheets and passed out.

The next day littlebabyexplorer decided it was morning at 5 am,
so we were up in plenty of time to see the sun rise over central park. It turned out to be a beautiful day and three coffees later we were back on track loving the city life :)
Later that day Kristian went to pick up visitors, his son and dad. We had been looking forward to have a holiday with them for a long time, and the day was suddenly here. Kristian had promised his son (12 year old August) to pick him up at the airport in a Limo. When we asked in reception where the limo would pick him up from, the guy smiled and said "it will be the only stretch white limo around) Tacky or not for a 12 year old this was the best! We enjoyed the next 5 days together and did most of the touristy stuff. They had a great hop on hop off bus that worked awesome with the baby, she was happy looking at everything and we got to see the city.

All our flight tickets were pre-booked, so it was all just good luck, but we missed the impact of Sandy with a couple of days. Unbelievable! We were sitting in the hot and summery California watching the news seeing the devastating effect on Manhattan an island we had enjoyed only days before. I am so glad we did not get trapped in all of this. I remember my way to close encounter with the Tsunami in Thailand in 2004 all to well! (but that is a whole other story)

Some pics from NYC :
