Iguazu Falls - eternal fall in the jungle

Iguazu river flows mostly through Brazil, but the falls divide Argentina and Brazil. The fall can be experienced on both sides, and its is highly reccomended that you visit both sides. Iguazu means big water. Legend has it that a god planned to marry a beautiful woman named Naipí, who fled with her mortal lover Tarobá in a canoe. In rage, the god sliced the river, creating the waterfalls and condemning the lovers to an eternal fall...

So when in Rio, so close to one of the 7 natural wonders of the world we just had to come and see what all the fuz is about. I mean its contenders to win the 7 wonders of the world title are are a feast to the eye. I have dived the amazing Great Barrier reef in Australia, fell in love with the Milford sound in New Zealand, not to mention seeing the Great Grand Canyon. In the middle of the jungle, 1,5 hour flight from Rio, I stare at the most amazing natural wonder my eyes has ever seen. The share sound of the water is intimidating enough, and then add a literary breathtaking amount of water I actually have to shout at Kristian for him to hear me.... I catch myself wondering how many liters of water that fall every second… Amazing place!

Going into the city close to the falls Cataratas, I realised that this city is not why I came to the jungle, we bought some baby food and hurried back out. You can make a trip to Argentina to see the falls from that side to, its meant to be just as beautiful, but unfortunately we did not have time. Next time!

There are two hotels inside the park, they are both 5 star and looked really nice, but since they were really pricey we decided on a resort in walking dictanse to the entrance of the park. San Martin was really children friendly and would have been great for kids 3years +

Going to the jungle with a baby please remember: Insect repellent, mosquito net, long sleeve jumper and pants for the evenings and rain coat! I have never been a place where the temperature can vary so much. One day 40+ Celsius next day rain and 15 degrees C.

  1. Hi,
We will be travelling to the falls in March. Our little bundle of joy would be 8 months old by then.
Will be able to do walk all the tracks with our baby? Or is it too risky (slippery trails for instance, or too much moist and noise for a baby)
